With the addition of Big Wootie, we now have a 8 cat parade to lead us to the barn at feeding time.
lol....it's a good thing we like cats. With all this waiting on you to come out the door, plus 3 yard/porch cats....it could be scary!
I'm out today. Getting ready for the SMHA horse show tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Big Wootie
Well I guess we will always be inheriting somebody else's animals. This fellow has been a pet. He's leary, but you can run your hand down his back when he's eating. I haven't tried to pick him up.
Big Wootie showed up a couple of weeks ago and is pretty much coming twice a day to be fed. I feed my outside cats. I give them small meals twice a day. I want to count heads and see them.
I had all intentions of taking him last thursday to be neutered. But, of course on Weds. we were late getting out to the barn and I didn't see him. Then he showed up on Thursday as I was pulling out. The Big Fix Clinic will do the neuter for $58. (neuter and rabies shot). They do them on Thursdays and you have to be there 7:30 AM to 8:00 AM.

I guess Muffin
is the only part of that "stud muffin" name she can call me now.
Ziggy is now a gelding! All weekend the Redneck would holler "NO MORE WOOBIES" and do a woot woot. On Friday, the 9th I took Ziggy, Jolie and Star to Dixie Equine. They ended up keeping Ziggy to perform his surgery and Dr. V called us at 7:30 PM to let us know how it went.
Luckily the impacted woobie was high in the flank and not in the abdomen. That guestimated cost was from $300+ in the flank to $700+ in the abdomen. Don't you know we were happy it wasn't in the higher cost.
We picked him up the next day. We are already able to tell a big difference in him not being a stallion.

Mississippi Monday 3/12/12
Since starting to walk again at work, I decided to try something new. I'm calling it Mississippi Monday. I want to show you pictures from my home state......seen thru my eyes. I do hope you enjoy the tours.
Today I'm showing Thalia Mara Hall. This is the municipal auditorium for the City of Jackson. It is used for educational and entertainment events.

The last time I had a picture of this fountain on this blog, the water was pink.
Yes, I so much want this horse. They can keep Louis XIV, but I want his horse!

Saying goodbye...
to one furry friend is hard and heartbreaking. But, to lose two in two days....well that was something I don't want to have to go thru again.
Scar started feeling bad and a trip to Dr. R determined he either had a tumor, cancer or something seriously going on in the intestine. She said the only treatment was an exploratory and it looked like an area of the intestine would have to be removed. The other option was to let him go. I choose to do that. Scar would not have understood such an invasive procedure, the pain or what we would have been doing. And there was no guarantee that the operation would have worked.
My Kitty Man started coming around over 13 years ago. Completely wild for a long time. Then one day about 7 or 8 years ago, he decided he owned me. He let me touch him and became my buddy. I had him neutered and made him a house cat.
I was with Scar when Dr. R gave him a sedative, then stopped his heart last friday. She was so caring and gentle. As much as it hurt I know I did the most humane thing for him. Scar is buried in one of the flower beds next to the house. In the yard, where he visited so many years before he ever let me touch him.

Shy went down in just a few days. When he became lethargic and wouldn't take hot dogs or chicken, I knew it was time to let him go. In 2008, when he was paralized, he still had the will to live. Last week, you could look at him and tell that he didn't have it any more.
The Redneck and I took Shy last Saturday morning and Dr. C put him to sleep in the back of my car. I appreciated that they didn't make us have to pick him up and bring him in. Dr. C took one look at Shy and said "yes, it's time". He told us that we were doing the right thing.
Shy is buried under the big cedar tree in the pasture. I've taken to calling it the "Beagle Tree". He's next to his sisters. He's home, the only home he ever had.
I'll miss my Kitty Man and my Booger so much. But, I didn't want either to suffer. And I truly believe that they both knew that we loved them.

I'm bored
Ms. Hiss sure is looking bored in this picture. Maybe she's tired from chasing poor Miss Priss all over the pasture..... We've had to run Ms. Hiss away from my sweet little Tractor Supply Cat (Miss Priss) several times.

His Girl....
As much as I love riding Gray Katie, the Redneck loves Red Katie.
From this picture, I know where all the sand angels in the riding arena came from. I laugh, when I drive past in the afternoons and see that the horses have been rolling around in our arena.
Red Katie could easily rival Jolie in the show ring. Truly, up until lately RedZilla would have whooped Jolie all over the show ring in a lope. But, Jolie has slowed up in her lope and and her neck has flattened out both in the trot and the lope. Zil has a really awesome slow trot.
The Redneck is happy just riding her. He really doesn't care about showing western pleasure right now.
Red Katie is a joy to ride. You don't have to work her at all. Just start her out slow to warm her up under saddle. We put friends/family on her when somebody wants to ride. She's just that safe.

How could you not....
love this old girl. Gray Katie may be 20, but she doesn't act it. She was a show horse in her younger days and truth of it is that she could still be shown. But, Jolie is flasher and just has the look that Gray does not. And I can't keep Jolie and Gray both in show shape. Plus it's too hard having multiple pleasure horses at a horse show.
I can honestly tell you that we've never taken Jolie any place that somebody has not said something about her. Jolie just stands out in the ring.
Gray Katie is perfectly content with casual riding. She's still a lot of fun to ride. I love the fact that you don't have to work her for a long time in order to ride her. In fact, the only time I worry about working her before I ride her is if it's really cold or been a few weeks since I've ridden her.
Unlike Star whose nickname is Buck-A-Boo-Boo. You have to work him into a sweat to get his attention before you get on his back.
Having several horses and one like Gray makes it nice having a good safe horse to piddle on. Cause as much as I'd like to ride Jolie every time, I don't want to wear her out. She has to have some time just being a horse. So when I ride her, she knows it business.

Here we come! Here I go!!!
Here come Sonny (white) and Sniff (brown) running to the morning hay pile. Redneck just let them out of the side pasture where he feeds them their supper, then their breakfast. They spend the day with Panama and his mares in the big pasture.
LOL.....see Pana's ears (caramel) as they are running toward him!
p.s.: See the yellow blur in the bottom left. I think it's Wave, well whoever it is they are getting out of Dodge!

About Me
- The Japanese Redneck
- Mississippi, United States
- 1/2 Japanese and 1/2 Redneck. I knew my husband was a country boy when he asked me if he could drive the tractor the first time he came to our place. He's taught me how to hunt, polished up my fishing techniques and loves our animals, yard, garden and being in the country as much as I do.
